It’s October! Did you know if you say “Pumpkin Spice Latte” three times in front of a mirror, a blogger in yoga pants and a blanket scarf will appear and tell you all her favorite fall things?
Kidding, sort of. However, we’re not really into pumpkin spice lattes to be honest. October kind of kicks off the holiday traditions with family costumes (or not), parties, trick or treating ... and you know what’s scary about that … trying to take candy away from your kids. We’ve watched our friends have long debates over having “The Switch Witch” come to visit. The Switch Witch arrives the day after Halloween and switches the gobs of candy for a new toy. The argument? No more arguing about having three pieces of candy or five vs. setting your kids up to feel shame around not being able to have certain foods. Limit your kids' sweet tooth to an unhealthy level and when they go off to college they eat all the “junk” and “off-limits” treats. We’re not getting in the middle of this food fight!
We’re in the homestretch people. Three months to go until it’s 2020. Say what?! October is probably our favorite month of the year in Northwest Arkansas. You can finally sit out on the patio with a cocktail and not sweat to death, the leaves are turning such beautiful colors that (for at least two weeks or so) the beauty of the Ozarks inspires biking on the trails ... or a long drive to the opposite county of where you live. (Eye roll to all you complainers.) Most importantly, and mark your calendars for this one, we celebrate Kasie-tober all month long with rosé corks popping on the 24th.
